Tasks

To identify (structural-) functional historical changeswe first employed a diachronic cartography method (Favory and Raynaud, 1992; Bevilacqua, 1992;  Morant et al, 1995; Rosselli and Paulmier, 2006). The principal development lines of the city from the perspective of the urban texture are identified based on a cartographic material (i.e., 1791, 1856, 1900, 1911, 1921, 1940, 1972, 1998, 2008), orthophotoimagery (i.e., 2005 and 2007 flights) which will later be combined with products generated by analysis of high resolution optical and radar satellite images. Specifically, maps of deformation based on radar interferometry using X-bands will be essential in quantifying the changes from recent years.

Working stages will focus on achieving important tasks:

Task 1 focuses on capturing the spatial evolution in historic time of the city and the vulnerability of natural support.

Task 2 Mapping of vulnerability of the built substance in accordance with seismic directivity was determined. The method was based on the methodologies developed under several projects including: RISK-UE, EQSIM, World Housing Encyclopedia (http://www.world-housing.net) and the German project SFB 461 "Strong Earthquakes" - focusing on earthquakes in Vrancea (Bonjer et al., 1999; Lungu et al., 2004; Bostenaru-Dan, 2006).

Task 3 aims at integrating results from Task 1 and 2 with radar inferometric results. The current dynamics of the space will be tracked and validated on the basis of case studies following up a methodology described in Armas et al. (2010).

Task 4 focuses on risk assessments.
